The bypass is 11.25 miles long, and it widens to four lanes until the end. The dam itself spans 160 feet across, has a height of 220 feet, and holds back over one trillion gallons of water from Lake Mead, making up 90% of Nevada’s drinking water supply today. It provides enough electricity for 240,000 homes each year.
